Yes, but only with a hinged or removable cover that opens instantly without tools, never a fixed, screwed-on, or painted-shut cover. The cover must maintain ventilation, keep hazard signage visible or relocated discreetly, and preserve the 1-metre clearance rule in front of it, exactly as if the panel were left exposed.

How often should a home electrical panel be inspected?

Apartments with moderate load should be inspected every 2 years. Villas, three-phase properties, and coastal or high-humidity homes (including much of RAK) should be inspected annually. Properties with no panel work in 10+ years should be inspected regardless of the above, and any renovation or the addition of a major appliance warrants an inspection first.

Is a buzzing sound from my panel dangerous?

Yes a buzzing or humming sound often indicates a loose connection arcing under load, which generates heat and is a recognised fire risk. If accompanied by warmth, sparking, or a burning smell, it should be treated as urgent: switch off the main isolator if safe to reach, avoid touching the panel further, and contact a licensed electrician immediately.
